Oh yeah. It’s March.
Since I last posted, life has been rather hectic and frustrating…
February 27, part 1: Learned that a former co-worker had a stroke two days earlier. Things are still fairly serious for the 28-year-old (!?!), but she should have a decent recovery, though some motor skills may not be fully regained.
February 27, part 2: Later that [...]

Feeling like Sunday.
Writing while sitting in front of light box.
Elliptical workout while listening to Christmas music, Poison, and REO Speedwagon.
Coffee during Meet the Press.
Shower in time for the FOX NFL pre-game show picks.
Football, football, and more football. Scrabble during meaningless games (to us), rapt attention during the Broncos game (when not checking the Avalanche score).
Making my seventh [...]

Musical taste.
When I listen to the likes of AC/DC, Motley Crue, and Lynyrd Skynyrd during a workout, does that mean:
a. I must have lots of pent-up frustration.
OR
b. I have good taste in music.
When I also listen to John Denver and Britney Spears during the same workout as mentioned above, does that mean:
a. I must also need [...]

Heat Wave.
There should not be record high temperatures in Colorado in the middle of November.
But there are – we should push 80 degrees today.
As much as I’d prefer more seasonal weather (including snow), this is a great time for me to get back on track with exercise. And getting out in the warm sun every day [...]

Little discoveries.
9pm workouts do not keep me up too late – they help me sleep better.
Doing dishes by hand is getting old after a month of doing so. (But I don’t know if we’d be going dishwasher shopping this weekend if it weren’t a bye week for both the Broncos and the Bears…)
We sent in our [...]

Lessons learned this weekend.
1. Maybe I don’t have the heart for 600-page books full of deep thoughts like I did when I was younger. While Crime and Punishment was a good read, I’m not going to be actively seeking out similar books. I want to finish the books I read in a timely manner…not [...]

The plan.
Numbers tumble around in my head.
All those A1C results under 6.0%, how did I get here?
I must be doing something right with diet, with those fabulous cholesterol numbers as proof. (Yeah yeah, I’m not perfect, as that 264 after a sushi dinner or that 239 after a quick cereal breakfast would show. When there [...]

Don’t make me lose control.
Sometimes I don’t even notice it coming. Something mentioned in a conversation sets my mind in motion. Racing thoughts lead to a racing pulse. From there, one of two things happens. Either panic ensues or utter sadness does. Things seemingly beyond my control make me lose control.
Almost as soon [...]

Many thoughts for March 6, 2008.
Wavering between “it’s only Thursday!” and “isn’t this week over YET?”, I’m more than ready for the weekend.
Struggling to find time to exercise. Maybe I need the personal coach from SMART Women’s Wellness. SMART uses goals that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.
Tackling Crime and Punishment during my commutes on the bus. (At [...]

This fine line we walk along.
Stuck at the same weight for close to six months, with very little fluctuation. 144, morning after morning.
A little above the normal BMI for height (somewhere between 5 foot 3 and 5 foot 4), but not a big deal. BMI might be a load of trash anyways.
Comfortable with it. Really. [...]
