My husband grilled flank steak for dinner last night.
It was 10 degrees outside, with a few inches of snow on the ground.
He wore nothing but a t-shirt and shorts and shoes.
It is a good thing he enjoys the cold, dreary weather because I certainly do not.

For the fifth year in a row, I plan on making coq au vin around Christmas. It makes a great romantic dinner for two, though it is quite a bit of work over 1-2 days.

Want the full recipe and pictorial? Here’s a link to the recipe and pictures taken along the way in [...]

It started with a 5k walk for breast cancer the year after my mother-in-law was diagnosed. Then another…and another…followed by a 39.3 mile walk over two days. Oh, and throw in a diabetes walk for good measure.
It started with a couple small donations to the humane society and the local PBS station back [...]

Blocked.

27Nov06

Yeah, I have writer’s block this morning.
For only the second or third time during NaBloPoMo, I have nothing to say and no photos to post.
I would have something to say and photos to post if my husband had downloaded Thanksgiving weekend photos, but he has not done so yet.
Which is not [...]

Sometimes, the perfect picture is the one that ruins what you thought was the perfect picture…

When all was said and done, I realized I had nothing to fear.
Planning that one quick side trip didn’t seem too difficult, but once we were in Wisconsin, the nerves made me think I didn’t want to do it after all. Why did I want to meet new people if I was only going [...]

Thwarted.

25Nov06

Cloudy, rainy, slightly foggy, cold. That is the weather in Madison this morning.
So much for a morning romp through the botanic gardens…and hopefully the weather doesn’t thwart our efforts to return home to Colorado.

A quick bite.

24Nov06

Despite my sister-in-law being a wonderful cook and baker, I managed to avoid overindulgence in food yesterday. I didn’t fill my plate to the rim, had plenty of veggies, and only went back for seconds for her delicious cornbread. (Though I would have to say mine is just as good.)
I still worked out [...]

Due to sleeping-in-a-strange-place insomnia (as opposed to don’t-know-why-I-am-up-at-this-hour-even-though-I-am-super-tired insomnia), I awoke at 5:06 AM CST. That’s 4:06 AM Denver time. I am not alone – the husband is also up. Between travelling all day and an early dinner, we hit the bed early last night (for us). Now I am hoping [...]

Turkey.

Stuffing.

Not to mention cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, fruit salad, and dessert. All in moderation, of course…
Happy Thanksgiving to all! We are off to the land of beer and cheese (aka Wisconsin) until Saturday to see my family (and perhaps some surprises, too!). Never fear, I plan on blogging each day we are [...]
